For as long as I can remember one of the biggest parts of my anxiety has been about flying on an airplane. Recently I carried out a number of sessions... read more with Helen to help be get over this fear and learn how to cope with panic when I feel out of control. This fear prevented me from being enthusiastic and excited about going on holiday, instead I was scared and dreaded it, rather than looking forward to it. Often as soon as I stepped onto a plane I would begin having a panic attack, feeling as if I could not breathe, and unless I could stop this quickly it would continue for however long the flight was; this would wear not just me out, but also the people who I was with (family or friends). Through asking me questions about my early experiences with anxiety, Helen helped me to learn where it came from. As well as this, one of the sessions was based around helping me to understand exactly how I feel when getting on a flight, and at what point in time I would begin panicking on the day of the flight / days leading up to it. She helped me understand that part of my fear stems from the element of being out of control when on an airplane. Helen helped me to build up the tools that I needed in order to keep myself calm and be able to get excited to go on holiday. Since my sessions with Helen I have been on 6 flights and not once have I had a panic attack. If I start feeling anxious I am able to calm myself down with the techniques that Helen taught me. Everyone who I have been on a flight with since the work we carried out has told me how much of an improvement has been made. I would highly recommend Helen and can’t thank her enough for the help that she has given me❤️
